The Sun may influence the Earth's climate in several different ways which can be categorized as follows:
Variations in total energy output
Variations in the UV and EUV emission
Variations in the solar wind and magnetic field
Many climatologists believe that carbon dioxide, added to the air by human activity, is warming the Earth. Controversially, some solar-terrestrial physicists argue that the Sun can explain much of the global warming. A good correlation between the global temperature and the length of sunspot cycles suggest there is a connection.
